I happened to visit Vaitheswaran Koil last month for pilligrimage trip downsouth. The moment i stepped out from the bus, one Auto wala came in front of me and asked, "Sir, temple is at some distance, come in my auto I will drop you right in front of it, for just Rs.20/-". Since I was tired of travelling accepted his offer.
He criss crossed streets, went to small street adjascent to temple, just infront of Naadi jothidam place.I don't want to mention the name of the Naadi Jothidam place, to avoid controversy.
Three people came out from this small hut, politely invited inside the office. Asked me to give my right thumb impression in a piece of paper. One taken the print went inside.
Another one showed me the pamphlet and asked me which reading I am interested, as they are number cantos... or I can select particular cantos which i am interested. I started to wonder is this what i wanted in the first place?.. Why i am here? I should be going to temple and to astrologer!
He broke my silence which one sir?.. I got amused, out of my mind I said OK, lets try, so third person asked me to accompany him to the number portioned rooms inside to one of the rooms, latched door from inside. He carried a tape recorder and a cassette for recording our conversation. He said he will search for "Kattu", if its found he will give me the reading, if not reading not possible.
He went inside another room, came with in few minutes and said he found the Kattu that belongs to me, or which has my reading!, Nothing is there to verify his claims!
I said I would like to get complete reading instead of specific canto, he said the charge for that will be Rs.1000/-, I got hickups... then said ok, give me the reading.. he started to ask me, what's my name, my father name, how many siblings do i have and all.. Then switched on the recording, started to repeat what i said in the tape... I felt the ass on my face!.. Do you call this as a art of reading!... Its rip off!
He said, i won't understand reading, so he said he will directly the meaning of the same, so i said ok, he hardly looked at the "olai chuvadi" instead he was reading more from my face, my dress and my psychic... What a fruad!
He started to tell, in previous birth i was born in srilanka to a wealthy family, ETC..All the story ... which i can't verify whether it is true or not. I have realised its a big business in the name of astrology.
I don't blame astrology but I don't like "Opportunist's" to exploit people ignorance, greediness...wild dreams. I was also told by number of people that they are creating fake palm leafs... just may look like original leaf in and around mayavaram, that's not a good thing for the beliver of astrology.. where people bound to develop negative feeling about it.
